What is a Babymoon and why you should go on one?
Whether you’re expecting your first baby (or your second or third) your life is about to be flipped upside down — in a good way! You and your partner are preparing to tag-team diaper duties, late-night feedings, and maybe day care drop-offs.
So between the excitement and nervousness of a new arrival — and mentally preparing for the chaos soon to occur — a pre-baby vacation (aka babymoon) might be just what the you need.
A babymoon is essentially a relaxed getaway for expectant mothers and their partners before their new arrival moves in! It has become an increasingly growing trend for mums-to be to head off on holiday with either their partner, friend or a loved one before the imminent happiness of the new arrival. Some couples choose to go on a babymoon as their ‘final’ holiday as just a couple before they transition into having a family.
Treat yourself to a luxurious getaway before your baby arrives. Celebrate your pregnancy! Pamper yourself with prenatal spa treatments specially designed for pregnant women, photoshoots, breathing classes, yoga sessions, pregnancy massage for mom-to-be and non-alcoholic cocktails (Mocktail, Please)
The safest time for a pregnant woman to travel is during the second trimester (18 through 24 weeks)
It is important to note that babymoons are often taken in the second trimester of pregnancy after the 12 week scan when it is much safer if you want to fly out to a destination. If you want to go abroad for your babymoon or are considering a long flight it is always advisable to speak to your doctor. Flying before the 12 weeks of pregnancy is not advisable; however, if you really want to go on a babymoon before 12 weeks you could consider a local spa vacation or relaxed hotel stay. All vacation plans should be considered in line with your individual health and requirements as its important to stay fit and healthy whilst being pregnant.
If you are considering where to go for your babymoon there are a range of destinations to choose from. Most couples want to spend some relaxing time off in chilled out surroundings before the sleepless nights begin. From breathtaking beaches to relaxed spa weekends or a luxury hotel stay, there are many different places that you could choose to enjoy your babymoon.
